The Opening concert of the Pori Chamber Music Festival will feature musicians from Pori Sinfonietta: Pori Quartet and clarinetist Paolo Poma.
The Opening concert of Pori Chamber Music Festival will feature Pori Quartet – a string quartet composed of musicians from the Pori Sinfonietta – and the orchestra’s principal clarinetist, Paolo Poma.
The program features two works whose composers share the fact that the pieces were written after they had retired. Brahms had already stopped composing, but after hearing clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld play, he was inspired to compose again, specifically for the clarinet. Jukka-Pekka Lehto, on the other hand, had a long career as a flutist with Pori Sinfonietta and retired in the fall of 2024. However, he has continued to compose and arrange music since then. The concert will feature the world premiere of his clarinet quintet.
The concert is organized in collaboration with Pori Chamber and the Pori Sinfonietta.
